The practice

Ali Mohammadabadi, PhD

Registered U.S. Patent Agent · Reg. No. 81,965 (search "Mohammadabadi" on the USPTO roster) · Laurel, Maryland

I help people turn an everyday idea into a U.S. patent application. You describe it in plain words. I write the papers the patent office requires and stay with the file when the office writes back.

I hold a PhD in biomedical engineering and drafted more than 40 patent applications at Wilson Sonsini, mostly in biomedical devices and diagnostics. Now I bring that same care to practical inventions of every kind.

Kinds of applications I have drafted

Earlier work, done for other firms' clients, is described by field only.

  • Biomedical devices and diagnostics
  • Consumer products that combine hardware and software
  • Mechanical systems
  • Machine-learning and health software

You talk to the writer

The person on the phone is the person who writes your patent. The drafting is not handed off to someone who did not hear it from you.

Your idea stays private

What you tell me stays confidential. The first call is free, so you can explain the idea before deciding anything.

Who it is for

Inventors with a product idea, a workshop fix, a kitchen improvement, or a better version of something already on the shelf. Large pharmaceutical portfolios are better served by a big firm.

What I do and do not do

I prepare patent applications and handle them through the patent office. For licensing deals or disputes, I refer you to patent attorneys I trust. No one can promise that a patent will be approved or that an idea will make money, and I won't either.
